Never Give Up

Everlyne Vihenda is one the longest serving employees at 748 Air Services with 18 years of diligence. Born in Nairobi but raised up at Elunyu village in Vihiga County depicts the early life of “Eva” as she’s popularly known by colleagues. The third born in a family of five started her schooling at Elunyu Primary School. Her dad passed away when she was at the age of 5, leaving their grandmother to fend for them. Unfortunately Eva was unable to complete her secondary education due to financial constraints. She decided to relocate to Nairobi city to make ends meet as life in the village was not forthcoming. Her job search in the city was proving to be futile until one day when her sister , who was working for 748 Air services asked her to hold her position as a steward while she went on leave. That's how Eva set her footing at 748 Air Services. When her sister resumed work, Eva was asked to continue on a part time basis filling in for other stewards when they went for annual or maternity leave. After a year of hardwork and dedication she was finally employed at 748 Air Services as a steward. Eva enthusiastically ensures our offices are sparkling clean every day and adequate food is delivered on time to her colleagues. She is a parent to six beautiful children, three boys and three girls. Eva loves her job and says it has enabled her to educate her children and pay her bills. She states that the reason that she remained in the company for this long is because 748 Air Services is family oriented, as colleagues address each other with the first names including our Managing Director and most of all, the company takes care of its employee’s welfare from health, food to general well-being. When asked what she likes to do in her free time, Eva said, “ I enjoy going to church to worship and praise as well as spend time with my beautiful children”. One of her best memories that she recalls is flying for the first time with the Cessna Grand Caravan to the Majestic Maasai Mara and Isiolo. Eva is now working towards her dream of owning a piece of land and building her own home. Everyday interactions with Eva will leave you rolling in the aisles, as she loves telling hilarious stories to colleagues while carrying on with her daily tasks. Her warm-hearted personality makes it easy for her to get along with everyone. She advises young people to beaver away in life and never give up, no matter how hard it gets.
