Meet Jackim Siramu: Rising Through Dedication

Some journeys begin with comfort and certainty. Others begin with hardship, sacrifice, and an unwavering determination to rise above life’s challenges. Jackim Siramu’s story is one of the latter, a story shaped by resilience, hard work, and the quiet strength of never giving up.

Born and raised in Bunyala, Busia County, western Kenya, Jackim grew up in a small family of two children. He lost his father at a young age and was raised by his mother; a hardworking farmer whose strength and perseverance became the foundation of his life. With his older sister already married by the time he was born, Jackim spent much of his childhood as the only child at home, growing up closely under his mother’s care and guidance.

Life was not easy. Meeting basic needs, including school fees, was often a struggle. By the age of fifteen, Jackim was already finding ways to hustle so he could help put food on the table and support his mother. It was a difficult season, but it was also where his resilience was born. Through it all, one thing remained constant, his mother’s encouragement. She would often tell him, “What you lack today, you will get tomorrow.” Those words stayed with him and became a source of hope, faith, and determination during some of the hardest moments of his life.

Jackim attended Makunda Mixed Secondary School before furthering his studies at African Driving School and King’s College. Outside the classroom, he had many interests, football, swimming, boxing, and traveling, but football stood out as one of his greatest passions. Playing as a winger and team captain, he developed valuable lessons in leadership, discipline, and responsibility. One of the moments that remains vivid in his memory happened during a sub-county tournament quarterfinal, when he missed a crucial goal that could have taken his team to the semifinals. Though painful at the time, that experience taught him an important lesson, setbacks do not define a person, how they respond to them does. It was a lesson that would continue to shape his life well beyond the football pitch.

As a young man, Jackim once dreamed of becoming a DCI officer. But life had other plans. Before entering the aviation space, he worked as a casual labourer in construction, another chapter that reflected his willingness to work hard, no matter the circumstances. Then, in February 2022, his journey took a new turn when he joined 748 Air Services as a gardener. For many people, such a starting point might have seemed small. For Jackim, it was an opportunity, and he treated it as such.

Through discipline, commitment, and a strong work ethic, he steadily proved himself. His dedication did not go unnoticed. Over time, he was promoted from gardener to office assistant, and later to Junior Administration Officer, where he now also supports logistics operations. His growth within the company is a true reflection of who he is, dependable, diligent, and always willing to give his best.

Jackim’s story is a powerful reminder that no role is ever too small when approached with purpose. At 748 Air Services, he has come to appreciate that humanitarian aviation is built on teamwork, where every contribution matters. From pilots to aircraft cleaners, from operations staff to support teams, each person plays a role in ensuring help reaches those who need it most. Being part of that mission has deeply influenced how he sees life and work, with greater appreciation for service, compassion, and collective effort.

What stands out most about Jackim is not only how far he has come, but the attitude he has carried throughout the journey. He is hardworking in the truest sense of the word, someone who does not wait for ideal conditions, but instead makes the most of every opportunity placed before him. Whether supporting his family as a teenager, doing manual labourer in construction, or rising through the ranks at 748, Jackim has consistently shown that progress is built through dedication, humility, and persistence.

Family remains at the heart of everything he does. As a father of three boys, he is deeply committed to giving his children the support, guidance, and opportunities he once struggled to access. He wants them to grow up feeling encouraged, seen, and empowered to pursue their own dreams.

He also carries with him deep gratitude for the people who helped shape his path. An uncle who supported his high school education made a lasting impact on his life, while his mother’s unwavering belief in him gave him the courage to keep going even when the road was uncertain. These experiences taught him that success is never achieved alone, it is often made possible through sacrifice, support, and the kindness of others.

Today, Jackim looks ahead with optimism. He hopes to continue learning, to keep growing in both work and family life, and to explore another passion close to his heart, gospel music. As a singer, he believes faith, hard work, and determination will continue to open new doors.

His message to the world is simple, yet powerful:
“Know yourself, work hard, and pray. Perseverance and dedication can overcome any challenge.”

From a challenging childhood in Busia to building a career in humanitarian aviation, Jackim Siramu’s story is one of steady growth, resilience, and quiet excellence. It is the story of a man who has worked hard for every step forward, and who continues to inspire those around him through his humility, dedication, and strength.
